Members can be proud of the achievements of the Valley Village Homeowners Association. VVHA volunteers work very hard to improve our community and have had many successes.
Here are just a few:
Update on the 170 freeway sound wall: The soundwall has been fully funded and the construction will begin next year.
Construction to start Summer 2015 and expected completion is Spring 2017.
The area it will cover is as follows….
1. 134 freeway between Mount Helena & Figueroa Street in Glendale
2. 170 freeway southbound between Route 101 and Oxnard.
3. 170 freeway northbound between 101 and Burbank.
4. 170 freeway southbound between Laurel Canyon Blvd and Victory Blvd.
5. 170 Northbound and Southbound between Victory Blvd and Sherman Way.
Limiting super-expansion of Burbank/Bob Hope Airport has been one of the Association’s top priorities for many years. The VVHA has been a strong voice for compromise, staying in contact with political representatives and community leaders on the impact of uncontrolled airport growth on our property values and quality of life.
VVHA successfully advocated for extensive landscaping on the Orange Line Busway. The Metropolitan Transit Authority plan included little greenery and no irrigation. The Association vigorously opposed this unattractive prospect. The final landscape design, including irrigation, enhances the community with lush planting and trees.
The completion of a gateway sign for Valley Village has proven to be a much longer and more arduous process than anticipated. But it is another example of how the tenacity and devotion of Valley Village Homeowners Association volunteers pays off. Improved landscaping and a monument sign has been completed at Laurel Canyon and the 101 Freeway entrance.Valley Village Park has been greatly improved.
The Association working with the Recreation and Parks Department accomplished several successful projects. A community tree planting added 50 new trees. New play equipment has been installed, walkways have been improved, the restrooms were remodeled to relocate the doors for better safety and a new irrigation system keeps the grass green and healthy.
